Dependencies on other platforms

stedr uses several platforms on the Internet. This post describes shortcomings and changes in these platforms that affect stedr. If you notice that a feature ceases to work properly, give us feedback as a comment to this post.

• June 2014 - SoundCloud app: The latest version of SoundCloud app on iPhone (version 3.0) does no longer support recording. SoundCloud recommends you to use the AudioCopy application.
• April 2014 - Retrieving places from Flickr: Places are currently stored in Flickr. The interface to Flickr is unstable and occasionally not available. This is why stedr asks you to refresh the map. We are looking for an alternative to Flickr.

Fixed or partially fixed shortcomings:

• January 2015 - Special characters (including Norwegian characters) are not handled properly: After SoundCloud changed their programmatic interface, we are struggling with retrieving sounds for places containing a Norwegian character (e.g., "Vår Frue kirke" and displaying special characters. We are working on a fix. The changes will hopefully be limited to the code on our server - not to the app deployed on mobile phones.
• December 2014 - Sound tracks are no more displayed in stedr: SoundCloud have changed their programmatic interface. The format used in stedr to retrieve data from SoundCloud is no longer supported. We are working on a revision of our software. The changes will hopefully be limited to the code on our server - not to the app deployed on mobile phones. More information about the change.
